A simple way to transport containers, unfortunately not an idea from Mavi.

Sea-containers are heavy and bulky, difficult to move around. Heavy equipment like giant forklifters, travelling cranes or lorries are necessary to do the job.Containers ships grow bigger and bigger every year and the ports to load and unload the myriads of them are becoming gigantic.

Even smaller ports have to be adapted to handle containers.

In West Africa where investments tend to be modest, local skippers have adapted their boats to handle large containers, an uncomplicated way of dealing with modern transportation techniques.

1 A fine and simple way to handle containers in West Africa, where port authorities neglect larger investments.
2 The barges seem to be rather strong and well built.
3 In any way a "low-cost" solution worth real applauses.
