Since January 2000, heavy-duty vibratory conveyors build by Mavi Maquinas Vibratorias from Sao Paulo , Brazil, are in operation at Latin America's most advanced foundry, LuK in Mogi Mirim, linked to LuK, a large European autoparts manufacturer.
Thirty tons per hour of castings are being conveyed and simultaneously cooled from 150 to 50 Celsius. Conveying requirements were extremely tough, as LuK demanded that castings should not be thrown but gently transported. A 15 degrees slope was a major problem, but Mavi managed to have the complete system running according to the purchaser's schedule. Total mass compensation was a basic requirement in order to have absolute vibration isolation to the ground.
A special conveyor for the continuous oiling (with an oil misting section and oil recycling system) was developed in order to allow LuK export castings under controlled conditions.
Luk is one of the many Brazilian foundries operating Mavi vibratory equipment but is the first which chose to have all vibratory equipment (from conveyors to feeders, from bin vibrators to screeners, from dosing equipment to filter vibrators and heavy duty shake-outs) from just one supplier. In all over 40 Mavi machines.
