In 1994 Mavi Máquinas Vibratórias Ltda. employees observed that more and more trees and birds were not present anymore, in this São Paulo district. The overall environment was slowly being transformed into walls, sidewalks and streets

They recommended a transformation of Mavi´s parking lot in order to reatract birds and create a bit more of shadow to the building itself, restoring a little of the natural beauty inherent to this sub-tropical region

The basic conditions were: only tropical or sub-tropical plants from the South American continent to be taken into consideration and no artificial irrigation, respecting natural conditions of the São Paulo climate, with wet summers and dry winters

Mavi contracted the renowed Botanica company and the chef of the biological and botanical division, Mr. Marcelo Guena, designed the new environment, according to informations he had about how it formerly was, until the São Paulo building boom took over

Now, after almost ten years, many good aspects have risen, according to this interesting experiment

a) Birds massively returned and nested in the now grown trees and bushes

b) Even a big bird species called Quero-quero, very common in the past, has returned and are regularly seen landing on the building rooftop

c) Bananas, Caribbean cherries, guavas and other native fruits are the bird´s favorites.

d) The overall building temperature has been lowered by the shadow produced by the grown trees

e) Neighbours are catching up, transforming an once terrible ugly district in one not all that bad
