At the limit?

Regardless of the bad year 2009 with a close to 40% drop in sales, recently Mavi had a test to fulfill, delivering very heavy screeners for two major projects, which were miraculously not cancelled by large customers, like Vale, Kuttner and Vallourec.

Heavy equipment, difficult to move around in the factory. Overhead travelling cranes at their limit, welding machines at full amps, larger parts manufactured under contract at other sources.

But apparently the results are positive, Mavi has literally tested its limits, trying to deliver many heavy machines in a very short period of time, as some projects, when reactivated, had very tight schedules. If all goes well until the end of February this giants all will be in place were they are to run for many years.

Anyway, a good start for 2010.

1 1.600 x 4.400 mm double deck Velopen screeners for coke or charcoal.
2 Heavy duty E-4600 eccentric drives, made in Brazil since 1988.
3 Top down, a large 2.500 x 8.000 mm Velopen double deck wet screener awaiting shipment for shot blasting and paint coating.
4 Another unit being welded.
5 Travelling cranes are pushed to the limit, sometimes a little farther...
6 Most parts are assembled elsewhere, Mavi does the final assembly, welding, testing and sometimes painting.
7 After welding, lower screener frame being hoisted into position.
8 Drive supports awaiting shipment. These are the tallest ever made at Mavi.
