One of the oldest existing types of continuous conveyor is the screw conveyor. It is said to have been conceived by Archimedes of Syracuse, approximately 2500 years ago.
Its use is recommended in places where enclosed transportation of bulk materials is required.
They are indicated for dry granular materials with good flow as well as some pasty, wet, fine, and fibrous materials. Adherent materials and large granulometries cannot be transported with this equipment.
Diameters can be up to 800 mm (exceptionally up to 1250 mm). The longest conveying distance is 60 meters. Above that only using series equipment.
The power supply to the system should preferably be constant in order to avoid overloading and operation by shocks.
